It is the time of year that we begin looking into the Flu Season and ask what steps we can take to help prevent it from happening to us and the ones we love. On Thursday October 11th at 7 pm the Girard Public Library and the Girard Medical Center are teaming up to bring important information to the community about the possibility of a flu pandemic. Steps for Kansans to stay healthy will be presented. There will be a short DVD provided by the Kansas Department of Health and Environment and a Girard Medical Center Representative will provide answers to questions, such as:
1. What is influenza?
2. When does influenza occur?
3. How is influenza spread?
4. What are the symptoms of influenza?
5. How soon do the symptoms appear?
6. How is influenza diagnosed?
7. How long can a person spread influenza?
8. Does past infection make one immune?
9. What are the high-risk groups?
10. What is the treatment for influenza?
11. What can control or prevent influenza?
12. What can I do to protect myself from getting influenza?
The program will last approximately 1 hour and Flu shots will be available afterwards at a cost of $18
Refreshments will be served.
